ASEBA - Direct Observation Form for Ages 6-11NEW -- Extensive research has produced a revised DOF that is now scored with a new ADM module.Observers write narrative descriptions of children's behaviour during 10-minute periods in group settings, such as classrooms and recess. The observers also rate on-task behaviour at ten 1-minute intervals. At the end of the 10-minute observation, the observer rates 88 problem items. The on-task and problem ratings are scored on scales displayed on profiles in relation to gender-specific norms for ages 6-11. Norms are based on ethnically diverse samples of 661 children for classroom observations and 224 children for recess observations. "Local norms" for the observational setting are obtained by observing "control" children. The new ADM Module for the DOF displays profiles of scale scores arranged by averaging scores for multiple observational periods separately for the target and control children. Para-professionals such as teacher aides can be easily trained to use the DOF. Inter-rater reliabilities for DOF scales range from .71 to .97. For the classroom observations, the DOF profiles include empirically based syndromes for: Sluggish Cognitive Tempo, Intrusive, Withdrawn, Oppositional, and Attention Problems. DSM-oriented ADH problems scale includes subscales for Inattention and Hyperactivity-Impulsivity. On-task and Total Problems--Classroom scales are also included. For the recess observations, scales include Aggressive Behaviour and Total Problems--Recess. Assessment Data Manager (ADM) for DOF 2009 has these system requirements: Windows 2000, XP, or Vista 32-bit (note: Windows ME is not supported). ADM can be used on Macintosh computers with emulation software.
