SUMMARY

The Behavior Dimensions Rating Scale (BDRS) is a standardized screening instrument that measures behaviour patterns. The BDRS yields standard scores and percentile ranks on four behaviour subscales:

  • Agressive/Acting Out
  • Irresponsible/Inattentive
  • Socially Withdrawn
  • Fearful/Anxious
The BDRS rating scale format consists of 43 items, each represented as a pair of bipolar descriptions (e.g., quiet/talkative; agreeable/quarrelsome) and can be used by psychologists, teachers, counsellors, parents, caregivers, etc. to rate the individual on a 7-point scale.

BDRS has a variety of uses:

  • determining the need for in-depth assessment for emotional disorders
  • evaluating, monitoring, and tracking behaviour
  • comparing perspectives of those professionals rating a student's behaviour
  • scores obtained include percentile ranks and standard scores
  • norms for males and females
