The Behavior Dimensions Rating Scale (BDRS) is
a standardized screening instrument that measures behaviour patterns. As of September 2009, the BDRS is out of print.
The BDRS yields standard scores and percentile ranks on
four behaviour subscales:
- Agressive/Acting Out
- Irresponsible/Inattentive
- Socially Withdrawn
- Fearful/Anxious
The
BDRS rating scale format consists of 43 items, each represented
as a pair of bipolar descriptions (e.g., quiet/talkative; agreeable/quarrelsome)
and can be used by psychologists, teachers, counsellors, parents,
caregivers, etc. to rate the individual on a 7-point scale.
BDRS has a variety of uses:
- determining the need for in-depth assessment for emotional
disorders
- evaluating, monitoring, and tracking behaviour
- comparing perspectives of those professionals rating a student's
behaviour
- scores obtained include percentile ranks and standard scores
- norms for males and females
