Dean-Woodcock Neuropsychological BatteryCATEGORIES: Ability, Achievement SUMMARYThe Dean-Woodcock Neuropsycholgical Battery (DW) is a new comprehensive assessment of sensory-motor functioning that includes a structured interview and emotional status exam. The DW expands the psychologist's range of assessment and provides standardized procedures and normative information to typically unstandardized measures used in neuropsychology. The DW offers different levels of interpretation so that a wide range of professionals will benefit from it - from school psychologists with little or no background in neuropsychology to neuropsychologists and neurologists with extensive background in brain-behaviour relationships. The DW may be used in either a fixed, flexible, or process approach to assessment and may be administered in schools, hospitals, mental health settings, or private practice. The DW is portable and time efficient - administration time is approximately 40 to 45 minutes. It is appropriate for ages 3.0 to adult, including the geriatric population. The DW provides:
The Dean-Woodcock Neuropsycholgical Battery is comprised of three parts - a Structured Interview, Emotional Status Exam, and Sensory-Motor Battery. During the Structured Interview, clinicians as questions to determine an individual's medical and family background. The Emotional Status Exam focuses on psychiatric signs and symptoms - covering most major disorders found in the DSM-IV - as well as clinical impressions. The Sensory-Motor Battery consists of the 18 subtests outlined in the chart below:
