Responsibility and Independence Scale For AdolescentsCATEGORIES: Behavioural AUTHORS: John Salvia, John T. Neisworth, Mary W. Schmidt, 1990RANGE: 12.0 to 19.11 years TIME: 30 to 45 minutes SUMMARY Responsibility and independence are key factors
in determining potential for success in the transition from school
to the adult world. The Responsibility and Independence Scale
for Adolescents (RISA) is a nationally standardized instrument
specifically designed to measure adolescents' behaviour in terms
of these two important factors. Whereas most measures of adaptive
behaviour target low-level skills, RISA allows you to assess
higher level behaviours. This is especially important when dealing
with mildly handicapped or non-handicapped individuals and juvenile
offenders.
Through a structured interview with parents or caregivers, professionals
can assess levels of responsibility and independence easily and
accurately. Valuable information can be obtained from RISA
that is not available in other tests.
