Woodcock-Johnson IIIWJ III Author Dr. Kevin McGrewKevin S. McGrew is a co-author of the Woodcock-Johnson III. He is suited for this role, having participated extensively in the development of the WJ-R and co-authoring the WJ-R Technical Manual.
Currently, Dr. McGrew is Director of the Institute for Applied Psychometrics (IAP), a research organization established in 1998 to provide a bridge between psychological, psychometric, measurement, and statistical theory and methods and applied practice in psychology and education. The IAP has a special focus on the use of the Cattell-Horn-Carroll Theory of Cognitive Abilities (CHC Theory) in intelligence test development and interpretation. Dr. McGrew holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (Special Education) from the University of Minnesota. From 1989 to 2000, he was Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He has also served as a primary researcher at the University of Minnesota with the National Center for Educational Outcomes (NCEO) and with the Institute on Community Integration. Dr. McGrew is a nationally certified school psychologist, practicing for ten years in Iowa and Minnesota. Dr. McGrew has conducted research and published numerous articles in the areas of psychoeducational assessment, personal competence, community adjustment of individuals with disabilities, family-focused assessment, and the use of educational indicators for policy research in special education. He has a particular interest in the application of item response theory (IRT) and structural equation modeling (SEM) methods to educational and psychological measurement. |
